In the field of performing arts, Potsdam is represented in the theater scene by a range of amateur and professional ensembles based in the city. Theater groups such as the Stadt-Spiel-Truppe, the Havarie theater, the fabrikCompanie, DeGater '87, and Comédie soleil principally perform on their own stages and host other ensembles from all over the world. Other groups, such as the Lieder-Spiel-Theater Pampelmuse (the Grapefruit Song and Game Theatre), the Poetenpack, the puppet theater Burattino, and the Felgentreu-Schlickheimer theater for example, are, for the most part, on tour giving guest performances of their programs. In addition to the best known theater stages, there are also stages in the Hall of Culture at the Alte Rathaus (Old Townhall), the Babelsberg Hall of Culture, the Municipal Hall in the Schlaatz residential quarter, the University assembly hall, the Koschuweit coffeehouse and on the Pfingstberg, which are all used for theater performances.
