It is the goal of cultural associations to promote the fine arts in Potsdam. They organize exhibits of contemporary art with both regional and national significance. In addition to the temporary projects in the graphic arts, performances and thematic lectures are also organized as accompaniment to the exhibits.
Other major tasks are the exchange of international art projects, co-operation in the field of culture, and the dialogue between the artists in Potsdam's twinned towns and local/regional artists.
The work of the art clubs is based on the longstanding professional experience of its members and enriches Potsdam's cultural program in a truly interesting and diverse manner.
One of these clubs is the Brandenburgische Kunstverein Potsdam e.V. It is considered a forum for art, artists, and friends of art, and its tasks include:
- informing about contemporary art
- supporting of modern art
- contributing to the cultural-political dialogue in the city.
