You will find the Potsdam Natural History Museum in the former Ständehaus der Zauche (the House of Nobles from the neighbouring Brandenburg city of Zauche). The museum collects, investigates, and records fauna and flora in the State of Brandenburg. The first permanent exhibit is the Brandenburg Aquarium, where a variety of domestic fauna in rivers and lakes is shown in 17 large aquarium tanks with fish, crayfish, and mussels. Other permanent exhibits on nature in Brandenburg are under construction. Each year several special exhibits are shown. The former Ständehaus der Zauche was built in 1770 according to the plans of G. C. Unger.
