The Academy of Film and Television Arts "Konrad Wolf" is a public-financed university of Brandenburg county. Founded in 1954, it is the oldest German media university. An integral part of the HFF training concept is, on the one hand, solid craft conscious of their own cultural roots and virtuosity in applying of newest media technologies on the other hand, complemented by scientific reflection of regional and international media products within their respective historical or current manifestations.

The combination of artistic and scientific contents with theory-controlled practical studies is essential for the HFF education system. Creativity and fantasy meet with pragmatic requirements. This training system is unique within the German-speaking media university scene. It intertwines students in individual study courses and students of different courses working together in projects. Here, with teamwork skills, both personality and creative individuality will be developed.

There are 11 courses of studies: Animation, AV Media Sciences, Film and Television Dramaturgy/Film Script, Camera, Media Specific Acting, Film and Television Production, Film and Television Direction, Film Music, Editing, Set Design, and Sound Design.

The HFF resides in a magnificent new building amid the Media City Babelsberg, in the center of the current happenings, which guarantees high synergy effects. In this way, the HFF may contribute to the increasing of the creative potential of the Media City Babelsberg. Current and future partner companies are working in short distances, which makes cooperation much easier.
