Excellent conditions for development have been created here thanks to extensive investment, particularly for the media industry, with its concentration in the Babelsberg Media City. Television productions and multimedia applications have grown in importance alongside traditional film production work here. Today, more than 3,000 people work in the fields of audio-visual media here.

Information, telecommunication, and software development are synonyms for the dynamic development of Potsdam as a home for the world of high-tech. There are already about 1,500 employees at work in this innovative sector of the Potsdam economy.

Excellent development potential for biotech companies
Potsdam is one of the most important centers for biotechnology in the entire Berlin-Brandenburg region. Two Potsdam facilities that are having a powerful impact on the sector are the Hermannswerder Biotech Campus and the Golm Science Park, which includes the GO:IN innovation center.

Potsdam's attractive setting, together with the cultural landscape created by the palaces and parks, provides high potential for the tourism industries of the city and the neighboring regions. Moreover, new tourist destinations, such as Krongut Bornstedt, the Biosphere, and Babelsberg Filmpark also contribute to increasing Potsdam's tourist appeal.
