The Urania "Wilhelm Foerster" Potsdam e.V. is a well-established institution in the Potsdam culture and education scene. Each year about 12,000 visitors attend the extensive program of events.

The Urania Potsdam presents diverse fields of knowledge and interests. Its program features lectures and readings, guided tours, and courses. The Urania also organizes excursions to various places of interest.

The Urania planetarium in the Neuer Garten has also been a facility of the organization since 2001. In addition to numerous lectures under the star-studded observatory dome, courses on astronomy are also offered to both children and adults.
