The Potsdam City and State Library is located in the very center of the city and is one of the most popular cultural and educational facilities in Potsdam. The building of the main library is part of the ensemble of cultural and scientific institutions surrounding the Alter Markt and Neuer Markt - the old and new market squares. In addition, there are branch libraries in the Waldstadt, Am Stern and Babelsberg residential quarters.

The library, with its diverse stock of media and the great variety of readings, lectures, and guided tours, it offers is an ideal place for all Potsdam citizens when it comes to accessing knowledge, communication, and life-long learning.
