Potsdam's attractive setting, together with the cultural landscape created by the palaces and parks, provides high potential for the tourism industries of the city and the neighboring regions. Moreover, new tourist destinations, such as Krongut Bornstedt, the Biosphere, and Babelsberg Filmpark also contribute to increasing Potsdam's tourist appeal.

Visitors to Potsdam will find 34 attractive hotels and guest houses with a total of almost 5,000 beds, as well as more than 300 restaurants.

Potsdam is also an excellent choice for meetings and conferences, one reason being the diverse and well-equipped conference facilities. Construction of a new conference center is planned for the near future in the Speicherstadt directly along the banks of the Havel River.

Extensive shorelines provide ideal conditions for tourism related to boating, recreation, and aquatic sports along the lakes and waterways. The supporting infrastructure is to be further developed in the near future.
