In the exhibit rooms of the Kindergarten Museum there is a place for memory and comparison, for a personal pedagogic definition of position, and for seminar work with the educators and the parents on various current subjects. Today, the main focus of the museum is on the situation of the East German (GDR) day nurseries, kindergartens, and school nurseries.

However, there are also exhibits showing initial aspects of child education in the west: impressions from the Montessori and Waldorf educational theories, as well as the situational approach. One exhibition, deals with the theme "Thirty years of the Kinderladen movement (the anti-authoritarian kindergarten) - roots - resistance - effects." The Kindergarten Museum is located about seven miles north of Potsdam, at the south-west border of Berlin, in Groß Glienicke.
